We inform you that the personal data provided by you will be incorporated into a database for which the Organizing Committee of the SAAS2023 is responsible, used only for administrative and promotional purposes related to the event.

The organization of the conference may use video recordings of communications and presentations for promotional purposes in which images of people, the public or interventions in particular sessions may appear. You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, and cancellation by writing to:


Registration will only be complete after payment of the conference fee. All those attending the SAAS2023, including organizers, speakers, panel presenters, and those chairing a session, must register and therefore pay the corresponding fee.

In order to participate in the conference, you must be a SAAS member. Please join us before registration:

Became Member of SAAS: Thanks for your interest in joining the Spanish Association for American Studies. Membership of the Association is open to teachers, researchers, independent scholars, and all others concerned with American Studies. Though the vast majority of our members are academics working in Spain, we do have a relevant number of members from other countries. Membership fees are the same for nationals and non-nationals.

By becoming a member, you are entitled to participate in our biennial conferences, to apply for SAAS prizes and grants, and to receive a complementary yearly copy of the journal REN: Revista Española de Estudios Americanos.

SAAS membership fees for a calendar year are as follows:

Regular fee:

– SAAS Membership: 40 euros

– SAAS + EAAS Membership: 46 euros

 Reduced fee for Master and Ph.D. students:

– SAAS Membership: 20 euros

– SAAS + EAAS Membership: 26 euros

Non-members of SAAS (of all nationalities) are welcome to participate in our conferences but will be required to pay membership dues for one year as well as the conference registration fee.

Members of ASA (American Studies Association) need only pay the conference registration fee.

EAAS (European Association for American Studies) membership through SAAS

If you are not a member of AEDEAN and want to join EAAS through SAAS you may now do so. Membership is 6 Euros per year, and this will be added to your SAAS dues.

Simply tick the appropriate box when you submit your application for membership in SAAS. If you are already a member of SAAS and want to additionally join EAAS through our association, send a message to our treasurer, Dra. Mar Gallego (

Payment policy

Registration and full payment of fees will be compulsory for attending any of the conference events.

Payment options

  2. By bank transfer: please observe the relevant registration deadlines. Registration fees depend on the date the payment is received in our account. Any bank charges incurred are to be paid by the participant.

Please make sure to pay your registration fee before the deadline for the selected registration type. If your payment is not received before the deadline, the later fee will be automatically charged. An unpaid or only partially paid registration will not be considered as valid until it is fully paid.

All fees should be paid in EUR (€), free of all bank charges.

Final Invoice

The final invoice will be issued based on details provided while registering (step Contact/Invoice details). Any change of such details (Attendee’s name, address, VAT number etc.) is possible before the conference is over and will be subject to a 20 EUR fee.

Payment deadline

Your registration will not be processed until payment is received in full.

SAAS 2023 Publications

Accepted presentations (such as individual papers or papers which are part of a proposed panel, workshops, talkshops etc.)  may be included in the conference publications such as the programme, book of abstracts or book of proceedings if the organizing committee decides to publish any of these.

Contributions not suitable for display will be rejected. Please have your work checked for correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and formal structure. The organisers reserve the right to edit them, if necessary, prior to publication.

By certifying that you have read these submission rules, you also confirm having received the prior approval from any co-authors to provide their data to the SAAS2023 Organizing Committee

Insurance and liability

By registering for the SAAS2023 Conference, participants agree that the organizers do not accept liability for any impediment or disruption of the conference proceedings arising from political, social, health, travel, or economic events or any other unforeseen incidents beyond their control. The SAAS2023 organisation will not be responsible for other services contracted directly by the attendees such as flights, hotel bookings etc. The conference cancellation conditions shall apply in all cases. Registration of a participant entails acceptance of the cancellation conditions.

All the participants choosing in-person attendance at the SAAS2023 conference acknowledge the potential risks associated with the possibility of contact with the Covid-19 virus and the ensuing medical and personal consequences.

By providing this information, the organizers disclaim any liability relating to insurance.

Participants are strongly advised to make their own arrangements concerning health and travel insurance.

Conference language

The official language of the Conference is English. Simultaneous translation into Spanish or other languages will not be provided

Cancellation policy
